Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.

An arrest does not mean that a person is guilty. All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty. A boy’s Mongoose black and green bicycle valued at $120 was reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Somonauk Street on June 2.

An officer was dispatched to the Park Forest Police Department on June 3 to investigate a report of battery. The officer spoke with a resident who said that three juveniles threatened and struck her son while he was waiting at the Pace bus stop near the Park Forest library.

A Samsung flip phone was reported stolen from a juvenile who told police he had been robbed near Wilshire Street and Central Park Avenue on June 3.

Police were dispatched to the first block of Hemlock Street on June 4 to investigate a report of shots fired. Police say a witness told them another man with whom the witness had had an altercation approximately 2 weeks ago, fired two rounds from a gun into the air and then returned to his residence. Police continue to investigate.

A resident told police on June 4 that she was the victim of a Nigerian business scam. While attempting to find employment, she conducted inquiries on Craigslist. One of the opportunities was to be an office assistant. She was contacted by a man who said he was in Nigeria on business but will be returning to the United States in a few months. While he was away, he needed someone to handle some financial affairs. In short, the man wired her $2000 and was then instructed to withdraw $1700 and forward that currency to another address. She subsequently learned that the original $2000 transaction had been deposited from a fraudulent account.

A silver iPad valued at $800 was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the first block of North Orchard Drive on June 1.

An insurance card was reported stolen from an unsecured vehicle parked in the 100 block of Ash Street on June 5.

Police were dispatched to the 2500 block of Western Avenue on June 5 to investigate a report of a robbery. A man told police that two men had punched him and taken his cell phone. While on the scene, Park Forest police were advised that the University Park Police Department had located a vehicle matching the description of the car in which the suspects drove away. Police have suspect information and continue to investigate.

A white Maytag refrigerator valued at $700, a white Maytag electric stove valued at $700 and a white a Maytag microwave oven, valued at $200 were reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Allegheny Street on June 7.

Police were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Willow Street to investigate a report of domestic violence. Police have suspect information and continue to investigate.

All of the windows of a John Deere 330C excavator parked in the rear of Norwood plaza were reported shattered on June 10.
