Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)–Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.
An arrest does not mean that a person is guilty. All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty. A juvenile was issued a municipal citation charging battery on November 3 and a second juvenile issued a municipal citation charging disorderly conduct when a Police Liaison Officer at Rich East High School was alerted that a group of juveniles were fighting outside the school near the lagoon.
A flat-screen television valued at $700, an Xbox 360 game set valued at $299, a PS3 game set valued at $299, a number of video games valued at $100, and assorted items of jewelry valued at $100 were reported stolen from a residence in the 300 block of Osage Street on November 4.
A resident told police on November 6 she made a rent payment to Thorn Creek Townhomes in the amount of $920 with a money order. The resident told police that she was alerted that payment had not been received. She discovered that the money order had been cashed but the money order had been altered and made payable to someone else. Detectives are investigating.
Sarah J. Simpson, 29, 128 Algonquin St., Park Forest, was arrested on October 7 and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police executed a search warrant at that address. Derrick T. Lockette, 31, and Monique J. Cole, 31, also of 128 Algonquin St., Park Forest, were arrested and charged with possession of cannabis.
A Gateway laptop computer valued at $500 and a backpack containing a textbook and a TI 83 calculator valued at $150 were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the parking lot of Forest Trail Middle School on November 7.
A juvenile was arrested on November 8 and charged with resisting a peace officer and retail theft when an officer on patrol in the area of Western Avenue and Main Street observed suspicious activity in the parking lot of CVS Pharmacy, 1 Main Street.
Charles Williams, Jr., 48, 132 Hemlock St., Park Forest, was arrested on November 8 and charged with one count of felony forgery when police responded to Chase Bank, 202 Forest Boulevard, to investigate a report of forgery. Police say Williams told them that he was walking in on Western Avenue near Birch Street when he discovered a blank check laying on the ground. Police say he told them he put the check in his pocket and later allegedly filled in the check with his information in the amount of $175. Police say he told them that he attempted to cash the check so he would be able to provide food and shelter for his family. Police say he told them he was unemployed and had lost his house to foreclosure.
A Sprint Blackberry Curve cell phone valued at $300 and a Bluetooth ear bud valued at $40 were reported stolen from a residence in the 2700 block of Western Avenue on November 8.
An alarm keypad was reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Allegheny Street on November 8.
A purse with a debit card and credit cards was reported stolen from an office at the Church of the Holy Family, 102 Marquette St., on November 8.
Paul Alexander, 40, 7 Waverly Ct., Park Forest, was arrested on November 9 and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery and interference with the reporting of domestic violence when police were dispatched to that address to investigate a report of a disturbance.
A clear plastic donation change box containing between $10 and $15 in coins was reported stolen from Nurses Plus, 350 Victory Drive, on November 9.
Holly R. Chavez, 22, 364 Niagara St., Park Forest, was arrested on November 9 and was charged with felony unlawful use of a credit card when police were dispatched to the 300 block of Nassau Street to investigate a report of theft. According to police, Chavez had recently been released from prison.
Police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Allegheny Street to investigate a report of domestic battery. Police have suspect information and continue to investigate.
A wallet was reported stolen from a school bus employee on November 10.
A white 2004 Chevy Silverado, Illinois license #11389V, was reported stolen from the 200 block of Kentucky Street on November 10.
Christian J. Dickens, 18, 447 Springfield St., Park Forest, was arrested on November 10 and was charged with battery when a Liaison Officer at Rich East High School was notified of a reported battery incident that had just taken place inside of a classroom. According to police, Dickens was advised several times by a teacher to turn off a computer and he allegedly refused. Police say after about five more minutes Pickens allegedly threw a notebook at the teacher, hitting her on the left side of her face and forehead.
An officer was dispatched to the Park Forest Police Department on November 11 to investigate a report of a lost article. A resident reported losing a credit card and advised that the card had been used without her permission.
A catalytic converter valued at $300 was stolen from a vehicle parked in the Metra Parking Lot, 520 Homan Ave., on November 11.
Freddie D. Smith, 61, 133 N. Arbor Trail, Apt. 109, Park Forest, was arrested on November 11 and charged with domestic battery when police were dispatched to the 100 block of North Arbor Trail in reference to a report of a domestic battery that had just occurred.
Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Winnebago Street on November 11 to investigate a report of criminal defacement. According to police, someone threw eggs at a vehicle and wrote an offensive term on a garage service door and a wall of the garage.
Shareese M. Ross, 23, 4456 Balmoral Dr., Richton Park, was arrested on November 12 and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation/possession of alcohol by a driver, driving while license was suspended, no insurance, obstructing identification, speeding, and failing to signal when required. A detective on patrol traveling northbound on Western Avenue says she observed the vehicle Roberts was driving traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Western Avenue while passing Indianwood Boulevard.
Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Lakewood Boulevard on November 12 to investigate a report of fraud. A resident reported attempting to use her debit card and found it was denied. She later found that there had been three charges made against her account in excess of $1000. The resident told the bank and police that the charges were not hers.
A window of a residence in the 400 block of Titonka Street was reported shattered on November 12.
A window of a residence in the 200 block of Nauvoo Street was reported shattered on November 12.
