Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)–Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.
An arrest does not mean that a person is guilty. All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Two juveniles were arrested and charged with battery regarding an incident that was first reported to the Park Forest police in late May of 2010. The juveniles were each charged on October 29 and November 4, 2010, respectively.
A window of a residence in the first block of Hemlock Street was reported broken on October 28.
A Samsung Gravity3 cell phone valued at $150 was reported stolen from the Central Park flagged-football field on October 29.
An officer responded to the Park Forest Police Department on October 29 to investigate a complaint of deceptive practices. A resident reported dropping off a Western Union money order in the amount of $401 inside the dropbox at the Thorncreek Townhome management office. It was later discovered that the "pay to the order of" line had been altered and replaced with the name of a woman. The money order had been cash. Detectives are investigating.
A juvenile was arrested on October 30 and charged with battery when police were dispatched to the 200 block of Green Street to investigate a report of a disturbance.
A juvenile was arrested on October 30 and charged with disorderly conduct when police were dispatched to the 200 block of Westwood Drive to investigate a report of a disturbance.
A juvenile was arrested on October 31 and issued a municipal ticket charging obstruction when police were dispatched to the 100 block of Sauk Trail in reference to a 911 hang-up/misdial.
A picture window in the 3200 block of Western Avenue was reported shattered on October 31.
A navy blue 2007 Chevrolet SS sport utility vehicle with tinted windows, Illinois license #H474932, was reported stolen from the 100 block of Well Street on October 31.
The driver’s side rear window of a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Sycamore Drive was reported shattered on October 31. A carton of candy apples was reported missing from the back seat of the vehicle.
The passenger side rear window of a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Shabbona Drive was shattered on October 31.
A window of a residence in the 500 block of Homan Avenue was reported shattered on October 31.
Two juveniles told police they were robbed of their belongings on October 31 in the 400 block of Lakewood Boulevard. According to police, the juveniles were approached by a group of six or seven black males dressed in dark clothing wearing dark bandannas over the lower half of their faces. A cell phone and a Sanyo MP3 player were reported stolen.
A window of a residence in the 3300 block of Western Avenue was reported shattered on October 31.
The rear window and two rear passenger opera windows of a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Neola Street were reported shattered on October 31.
Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Oakwood Street on November 1 to investigate a report of criminal damage to property. Police discovered that someone had forced entry into a vacant house and had apparently slept in one of the beds. A blue Dustbuster and charger were the only items reportedly taken from the residence.
A 42-inch Samsung plasma television valued at $2200, a 37-inch Olevia plasma television valued at $2200, and approximately 50 PlayStation 2 games were reported stolen from a residence in the 500 block of Lakewood Boulevard on November 1. In addition, a 42-inch Visio plasma television valued at $3000 was reported damaged.
A juvenile was arrested on November 2 and issued a municipal citation charging truancy when police responded to the area of Park Forest Academy, 375 Oswego Street, in reference to a report of a student who allegedly left the school and was standing near vehicles in the parking lot.
Three juveniles were arrested on November 2 and charged with disorderly conduct when police responded to the 100 block of East Sycamore Drive in reference to a report of a juvenile problem.
A gray HP Pavilion laptop computer valued at $700, a Nikon Cool Pix digital camera valued at $150, $300 in quarters and dimes, a Motorola Bluetooth headset valued at $100, and a backpack containing an external hard drive valued at $150 were reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Mohawk Street on November 2.
A mounting pole and a DirecTV satellite dish valued at $150 were reported stolen from the first block of South Arbor Trail on November 3.
Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Navajo Street on November 3 to investigate a report of an attempted residential burglary. Police have suspect information and continue to investigate.
Venus L. Reid, 40, 207 Todd St., Park Forest, was arrested on November 3 and charged with criminal damage to property when police were dispatched to the 3300 block of Western Avenue to investigate a complaint of criminal damage to property.
An officer was assigned to investigate a fraud complaint at the Park Forest police station on November 3. A resident reported that her Discover credit card was missing from her wallet. She also discovered that it had been used at the Wal-Mart in Matteson, Illinois, for a transaction in the amount of $199.02. Police continue to investigate.
Police were dispatched to the area of Indianwood Boulevard and Hemlock Street on November 3 shortly after midnight to investigate a complaint of domestic battery. Police have suspect information and continue to investigate.
