Police: Two Neglected Dogs Seized From East Gate Home Die


Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Park Forset police report in a statement that two dogs are dead after they were discovered in a severely neglected condition in the East Gate neighborhood on the 4th of July.

According to police, patrol officers responded to a residence on the 200 block of Allegheny Street on July 4 in reference an anonymous complaint of animal neglect. The responding officer found two pit bull dogs in a small cage in "deplorable conditions" and " a severe state of illness and malnutrition," according to police.

The dogs were immediately taken for medical treatment, but unfortunately did not survive.

After an investigation and consultation with Cook County Assistant State’s Attorneys, the resident, a 33 year old Park Forest woman, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.

According to police, each class 4 felony has a maximum prison sentence of 3 years upon conviction. Additionally, the Crime Free Housing ordinance will be applied.

"The Park Forest Police Department takes crimes against animals seriously, and will prosecute offenders to the fullest extent of the law," police said in a statement.
