Park Forest Burglary Dispatch Through June 14, 2019


Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- The first half of June saw burglary reports to vehicles and homes. Some reports are noted as “delayed,” i.e. people did not call when they first discovered the alleged burglaries or they only discovered the incidents after a period of time had passed.

6/5/19 12:50: Delayed Report of Burglary to Motor Vehicle

On June 5 at 12:50 PM officers were dispatched to the first block of North Street to investigate the report of a delayed burglary to a motor vehicle. Officers spoke with the complainant who related that approximately two weeks ago he had attempted to start a loaner vehicle, however, the vehicle would not start.

The complainant checked the engine compartment and observed the battery was removed. No other items were reported missing from the vehicle. The complainant requested that the incident be documented for informational purposes only.

6/5/19 16:47: Delayed Report of Burglary to Motor Vehicle

On June 5 at 4:47 PM officers responded to the PFPD in reference to a delayed burglary to a motor vehicle. Officers spoke with a woman who related that when she was bringing in her groceries from her car the previous day and had forgotten to take in her laptop as well. That morning on the way to work, the woman noticed that the laptop was missing from the front passenger seat. The bag the laptop was in also contained a check for $130.

The laptop missing is a silver Apple MacBook Pro 13” with a black case. The woman advised that the top of her Jeep had been off, making the car easily accessible. The car was photographed for evidence. No further information is available at this time.

6/5/19 22:57: Residential Burglary

On June 5 at approximately 10:47 PM officers responded to the 300 block of Springfield Street to investigate a residential burglary. Officers spoke with the owner of the residence upon arriving at the scene. The owner related that when they had returned to their home at approximately 10:50 PM, his wife noticed the TV in their upstairs bedroom missing. Upon further inspection, the owner noticed that his HP Inspire laptop was also missing.

Officers located where the suspect entered which was the basement window on the north side of the residence which leads to the laundry room. The window screen had been moved and shoe impressions were found on the washer/dryer.

Officers photographed and processed the scene. Neighbors of the residence related that they did not see or hear anything.

6/7/19 15:08: Residential Burglary

On June 7 at approximately 3:08 PM officers responded to the 300 block of Douglas Street to investigate a burglary just discovered. Officers spoke with the tenant who related that he had returned home between 2:45 and 3:00 PM that day to discover a duffle bag, Nike book bag, and a 55” Vizio television were all missing.

The tenant described the items in the navy-blue duffle bag, with its contents, were valued at about $135; the Nike bookbag was black with a gray Nike logo displayed which valued at about $80; and the television which was valued at about $200.

Officers processed the scene and were able to recover four latent fingerprints from the window and wall of the bedroom. None of the neighbors noticed anything unusual. This incident will be turned over to the investigations division.

6/10/19 23:42: Burglary to Motor Vehicle

On June 10 at approximately 11:42 PM officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Sheridan Street to investigate the delayed report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. Upon arrival to the scene, officers spoke with the complainant who related that she had gone to her vehicle parked in her driveway and discovered that the glove box and console were both open. Items that had previously been in the compartments were scattered all over the front seats.

One tablet worth approximately $35 had been taken from the vehicle. The complainant reviewed the surveillance footage of the exterior security cameras and observed a dark human-like figure walk up the driveway and eventually out of sight. The complainant would like to press charges against the suspect who unlawfully entered her vehicle and committed theft of the tablet.

6/14/19 2:53: Residential Burglary

On June 14 at approximately 2:53 AM officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Lee Street in reference to a burglary just discovered. Officers spoke with the complainant who related that she had returned home from work about a half-hour prior to discover items missing from inside her residence. She had noticed her driveway door ajar but did not think much of it until she noticed items missing and disturbed inside the residence.

Items missing included; a Lenovo laptop, a 40” Vizio flat-screen television, an Xbox 1 game console, and a Macy’s credit card. Dresser drawers had been opened and rifled through and an Element flat-screen television mounted on the wall was tilted. Officers processed the screen and observed three latent fingerprints from the Element television. No forced entry was observed, and it is believed the complainant may not have completely closed the driveway door.
