Earthquake Aftershocks Continue Off Coast of Honshu, Japan


Washington, D.C.-(ENEWSPF)- The U.S. Geological Survey has sent out a number of reports of aftershocks in the aftermath of the 8.9 magnitude earthquake that struck off the coast of Japan yesterday.

All of the aftershocks have been in excess of 6.0 magnitude, the agency reports. Yesterday, a 6.2 M aftershock rumbled at 12:29 p.m. (all times CST), 6.6 M at 1:46 p.m., 6.3 M at 2:11 p.m., and 6.8 M at 7:47 p.m.

Today, the USGS has preliminary reports of aftershocks registering 6.1 M at 4:30 a.m., 6.4 M at 7:15 a.m., and 6.0 M at 11:19 a.m. so far.
