Hillary Clinton Campaign Statement on Speaker Ryan’s Comments about Immigration Reform

NEW YORK—(ENEWSPF)—November 2, 2015. In response to new House Speaker Paul Ryan’s comments this weekend ruling out any consideration of comprehensive immigration reform while President Obama is in office, Hillary for America Latino Outreach Director Lorella Praeli released the following statement:

“Speaker Paul Ryan’s announcement that he will not pass comprehensive immigration reform while President Obama remains in office shows the extreme wing of the Republican caucus still controls the agenda in the House. And with all the Republican candidates for President opposed to President Obama’s immigration actions, it is clear the stakes in next year’s elections could not be higher.

“The entire Republican Party continues to play political games with the lives of so many families who consider themselves Americans and want nothing more than to work hard and provide a better life for their family.

“It’s time for Republicans to stop putting politics first and do what the majority of the American people want them to do: pass comprehensive immigration reform that would provide a pathway to citizenship for those living in the shadows. Republicans continue to try and block the President’s immigration relief for 4 million people, and yet, continue to offer no legislative solution. They continue to be the only obstacle to passing a common sense immigration reform bill through Congress, and as a result, millions of families are living in fear or facing deportation. This must stop. Hillary’s position is clear: she will protect, expand and renew the executive actions of President Obama and will continue to fight for common sense immigration reform.”
