ISAF Commander Condemns Murderous Act in Afghanistan Resulting in 17 Civilian Deaths

KABUL, Afghanistan–(ENEWSPF)–August 27, 2012  — Gen John R. Allen, commander of the International Security Assistance Force, joins the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in condemning the heinous murder of 17 civilians in Kajaki District of Helmand Province.

“Those who perpetrated this act are cowards, killing innocent men and women. ISAF stands with our Afghan partners, prepared to assist in any way to help bring these criminals to swift and sure justice.” Allen said.

“This callous act clearly demonstrates the insurgents’ willingness to stop at nothing in terrorizing civilians. These acts will not sway the will and fortitude of the noble people of Afghanistan. Just the opposite is true as we have seen recently in provinces across the country where citizens are taking a stand against these evil actors, driving them from their provinces and homes,” said Gen. John R. Allen, commander, International Security Assistance Force.

Allen also offered his condolences to the families of those killed. “To the families and friends of those who were so brutally murdered in Helmand, please accept our most sincere condolences and prayers for your tragic loss.”
