Japan’s Northeastern Region Struck by 6.5 Magnitude Earthquake


TOKYO—(ENEWSPF)—July 23, 2011. Japan’s Meteorological Agency reports that a magnitude 6.5 earthquake has struck northeastern Japan Saturday afternoon. This is the same area that was devastated by a massive earthquake and tsunami on March 11th.

The quake was centered 25 miles (40 kilometers) below the sea bed in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Miyagi prefecture. There have been no reports of injuries or damage from this latest earthquake. No tsunami warning was issued.
