Occupy Pittsburgh: Occupy Supporters Demonstrate on Eviction Day

Monday, February 6 Marks Court-ordered Deadline

Pittsburgh, PA—(ENEWSPF)—February 6, 2012.  Monday, February 6 at 11:56 am is the official deadline for eviction of the Occupy Pittsburgh camp at the People’s Park. Occupy Pittsburgh participants and supporters will demonstrate at the camp beforehand to show that an injunction or an eviction will not stop this movement, to stand up for the freedom of speech and of assembly, to celebrate Occupy Pittsburgh’s achievements over the last four months, and to say loud and clear: “You can’t evict and idea whose time has come.”

We will have held People’s Park for 115 days.  During that time, Occupy Pittsburgh successfully created a public forum to bring attention to the undemocratic and poisonous influence greedy corporations and banks have on our government.

We’ve developed a strong community of empowered individuals, and we’ve worked to bring important issues into public dialogue.

Now we’re moving forward into a new role to organize around issues of economic and social justice in the City of Pittsburgh and the world.

Occupy Pittsburgh remains committed to non-violence, and Monday’s events are planned accordingly. We will gather to exercise our constitutionally guaranteed freedoms of speech and assembly. We encourage all supporters to join us in fully committing to principles of non-violence at our gathering this Monday and going forward.

WHAT:          Occupy Pittsburgh Participants will make a statement at the eviction deadline.

WHERE:       People’s Park

WHEN:          Monday, February 06 at 11:56 am

Occupy Pittsburgh has been developed by residents of Southwestern Pennsylvania in harmony and solidarity with the 99% Occupy movement, a nonviolent, decentralized movement working to create a just society.  We are exercising our rights to assemble peacefully and to speak freely, working against all forms of inequality and discrimination.
