OCTOBER2011 MOVEMENT Protesters March on Hart Senate Office Building as Congress Returns to Work on Tuesday, October 11th

Washington, DC—(ENEWSPF)—October 11, 2011.  About 75-100 protesters from the October2011 occupation of Freedom Plaza marched from the Plaza to the Hart Senate Office Building this morning to confront Congress about its refusal to represent the people who vote for them and their incompetence in the face of economic crisis and unending war.

They filled the Hart atrium on all sides and multiple levels, with chants of “How Do You Fix the Deficit?  End the Wars, Tax the Rich,” and “We Are the 99%.”  And they dropped banners in the building.

Ward Reilly, from VFP (Veterans for Peace) and an October2011 organizer said, “A U.S. Marine and an infantryman are not allowed to fly the U.S. flag inside the Senate office building.”

As of 11:40 this morning, police began arresting some of the demonstrators, including Dennis Trainor from the October2011 Steering Committee.
