NEW YORK–(ENEWSPF)–13 May 2011.  Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has condemned today’s suicide bombings at a military training centre in north-western Pakistan, which have killed more than 80 people and injured at least 120 others.

Media reports say the twin bombings took place as recruits were boarding buses at a training centre in the town of Shabqadar about 6 a.m.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson Mr. Ban offered his deep condolences to the Government and people of Pakistan and to the families of the many victims.

“The United Nations stands by Pakistan in its efforts to combat terrorism, which continues to claim the lives of so many of its citizens,” the statement stressed.
