Statement by Secretary Panetta on the Passing of Former Senator Warren Rudman

Washington, DC–(ENEWSPF)–November 20, 2012.

“My thoughts and prayers today are with the family of former Senator Warren Rudman.  He was a dear friend and I had the honor of serving with Senator Rudman in the United States Congress, where I worked closely with him and other leaders from both parties to help tackle the nation’s fiscal challenges.

“He was a patriot and veteran of the Korean War, who served the people of New Hampshire with distinction in the United States Senate for 12 years.  He also later helped guide Department of Defense priorities by co-chairing the U.S. Commission on National Security/21st Century.

“Senator Rudman leaves behind a rich legacy of bipartisanship, compromise and dedication to the country that will continue to serve as an inspiration to all of those in public service.”
