Washington, D.C.-(ENEWSPF)- The United States government has shut down.
What’s open? What’s closed?
ABC News reports that the following are closed/impacted:
- Al National Parks are closed.
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has ceased disease surveillance.
- Most routine food inspections by the Food and Drug Administration are suspended.
- About half the Defense Department’s civilian employees will be furloughed.
- The IRS will cancel audit appointments. (Well, there’s always that.)
The following are not closed/impacted:
- The Post Office and Amtrak.
- Social Security payments will continue to go out.
- 1.4 million active-duty military personnel stay on duty.
- Most Homeland Security agents and border officers keep working.
- Most Department of Veterans Affairs services will continue.
