WASHINGTON—(ENEWSPF)—March 21, 2013. The U.S. House approved the budget plan authored by Representative Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.), 221-207, on a largely party-line vote.
No Democrats voted for the plan. The Democratic Senate is debating a competing budget on Thursday with passage expected on Friday. Congress will then adjourn for a two-week spring recess.
The House also passed a short-term spending bill to avert a government shutdown that now heads to President Obama for his signature.
