UN Secretary-General Condemns Deadly Bomb Attack at Moscow Airport

NEW YORK–(ENEWSPF)–24 January 2011 – Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has condemned today’s deadly bombing at the Domodedovo Airport in the Russian capital of Moscow, which reportedly killed dozens of people and injured more than a hundred.

In a statement, Mr. Ban’s spokesperson said that the UN chief is appalled by the bombing, condemning it as a “deplorable and unjustifiable act of violence against innocents.”

The statement added that the Secretary-General conveys his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and his solidarity with the government and people of the Russian Federation.

According to media reports, Russian authorities have said that the bombing was most likely carried out by a suicide bomber and have increased security at Moscow’s commercial airports and other key transport facilities.
