Congresswoman Robin Kelly Hosts Veteran Workshop in Calumet City

Calumet City, IL—(ENEWSPF)—July 31, 2015. Congresswoman Robin Kelly hosted a Veteran Workshop today at the Calumet City Public Library that offered guidance to veterans seeking housing and career opportunities.

Participating agencies included the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership, A Safe Haven, the Illinois Housing Development Authority, the Cook County Department of Veteran Affairs and Rush Medical Center, which has developed an innovative tech internship program for veterans.

“I strongly believe in ensuring that our veterans have all the resources that they need,” Congresswoman Kelly said. “After contacting numerous veteran agencies and groups, we realized that many veterans were seeking advice on housing and career opportunities. We decided to bring in experts from the greater Chicagoland area to inform veterans of their options. We received a lot of positive feedback from the veterans, who told us they were pleased with the information that was presented.”

Kelly said she plans to organize similar events in the future to keep veterans informed and up to date on the many benefits, services and opportunities available to them.
