ISAF Joint Command Morning Operational Update, October 15, 2012


KABUL, Afghanistan–(ENEWSPF)–October 15, 2012 — Afghan and coalition forces today confirmed the death of Taliban leader Qurashi from a security operation in Kunduz province, Saturday.

Qurashi, also known as Baz Khan and Zubair, was a Taliban leader specializing in the use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and was directly involved in planning and executing IED attacks.

Afghan National Army Special Forces, partnered with U.S. Special Forces, killed a number of insurgents during a patrol in Paktiya province Friday when the coalition partners were ambushed by more than a dozen insurgents. The combined force returned fire and used air support to kill the insurgents. No civilians or security forces were killed or injured during the engagement.
