Kirk Identifies Military Construction Projects for Illinois in President Obama’s Budget


WASHINGTON—(ENEWSPF)—February 15, 2011.  Today, U.S. Senator Mark Kirk (R-Ill) identified five military construction projects for Illinois in President Obama’s budget.

“These are important projects for the State of Illinois,” said Kirk who is the Ranking Republican Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee for Military Construction and Veterans Affairs.

“While we are facing an unprecedented budget crisis which will require a number of tough decisions, I will be watching these requests closely and fighting for what’s best for Illinois.”

A list of the Illinois Military Construction Projects put forth in President Obama’s 2012 Budget request:

Great Lakes – Navy Decentralize Stream System – $91.042 million

Great Lakes – TriCare Management Agency – Health Clinic Demolition – $16.9 million

Homewood – Army Reserve – Reserve Center – $16 million

Normal – Army National Guard – Army Readiness Center – $10 million

Rockford – Army Reserve – Reserve Center – $12.8 million

Total for Illinois – $146.742 million

The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee for Military Construction and Veterans Affairs is responsible for drafting legislation to allocate funds to government agencies including the Department of Defense.
