New Administrator Appointed for Illinois Veterans’ Home – Manteno


Manteno–(ENEWSPF)–December 12, 2013.  The Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs announced yesterday that following an extensive selection process Lester E. Robertson Jr. of Auburn, Illinois, has been selected to be the Veterans Home Administrator for the Illinois Veterans’ Home – Manteno.

His professional experience as an administrator for skilled-care facilities spans over 42 years in Illinois and Missouri.  The vast majority of Robertson’s experience as an administrator has been with skilled care facilities in Illinois and Missouri. He is a former owner of Robertson Healthcare, LLC which owned two nursing facilities in Illinois. Most recently he worked with Families for Reform, an Illinois non-profit dedicated to improving care for residents in Illinois Nursing Homes.
 
“All of us at IDVA look forward to the leadership that Lester Robertson will provide at our Manteno Veterans’ Home,” said Erica Borggren, Army veteran and Director, IDVA.  “His experience, expertise and proven record of accomplishment equip him well to lead our staff at Manteno in continuing to provide the highest quality of care for our veteran residents.”
 
Robertson is a 1971 graduate of the University of Missouri–Rolla, and holds Nursing Home Administrator licenses in both Illinois and Missouri. He is a 22-year member of the Illinois Healthcare Association, having held having held senior elective and committee positions within that organization. He is a current Board Member of the Illinois Nursing Home Administrator’s Association, as well as an appointed member of the Illinois Governor’s Long Term Care Advisory Board.

He currently resides in Auburn, Illinois and is a leader in the Shriners. He is also the son of a retired 20-year U.S. Air Force veteran, who served in Korea and Vietnam. 

About Illinois Veterans’ Home – Manteno

The Manteno Veterans’ Home opened in 1986, located east of the city of Manteno in Kankakee County, on a 122 acre campus and comprised of five major nursing care units and two ancillary service and support buildings. With a total capacity of 340 beds, the Manteno Home offers skilled care and Special Needs Unit programs and services to eligible veterans.

The IDVA operates four Illinois Veterans’ Homes which are fully staffed with caring and dedicated professionals who provide quality long-term skilled care and services to resident members. Volunteers from veteran service organizations and the local community provide many additional supporting services and activities to the veterans.

Each Home is licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health and certified by the US Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center of Jurisdiction.  The Homes work closely with the local healthcare community to ensure that each resident’s specific health care needs are available and met.  Emphasis is given to ensuring that each resident member is well cared for, has a full quality of life, and enjoys a caring, supportive environment.
