Taphandles Recalls Ceramic Beer Tap Handles Due to Laceration Hazard


WASHINGTON, D.C.–(ENEWSPF)–October 18, 2012.  The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

Name of Product: Ceramic Beer Tap Handles

Units: About 24,000

Retailer: Taphandles LLC, of Seattle, Wash.

Manufacturer: B&C Industries Ltd, of China

Hazard: The ceramic beer tap handle can break during normal use, posing a laceration hazard to consumers.

Incidents/Injuries: None

Description: This recall involves ceramic beer tap handles sold in 25 custom-made designs. “Taphandles Inc.” and “Made in China” are engraved on the gray metal base of the tap handle.

Sold at: Taphandles sold the recalled ceramic beer tap handles directly to breweries from November 2002 to May 2006 for between $10 and $23.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ceramic beer tap handles and contact Taphandles to receive a free replacement tap handle.
