XYMOGEN® ISSUES ALLERGY ALERT ON UNDECLARED Peanut Protein IN 3 Varieties of OrganiX Bars


Silver Spring, Maryland–(ENEWSPF)–August 9, 2011.  XYMOGEN® of Orlando, FL is recalling specific lots of 3 Varieties of OrganiX Bars: Omega-3, Spice and Greens, because they may contain undeclared peanut protein. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanut protein run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Affected lots of OrganiX Bars were distributed nationwide through mail orders between the dates of August 4th, 2010 to April 19th, 2011.

Products were distributed in boxes containing 12 (50g) Bars. Lot Codes can be found on the individual bar wrappers and on the upper left side of the retail carton printed in white ink.

There have been NO reported allergic reactions to the specific lot #s to date in connection with this problem.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that a lot of cashew butter last year during summer was tested to contain peanut proteins. Our supplier did not disclose the possibility of peanut protein presence on the label as a warning statement.

Customers may return products of the specific lots to XYMOGEN ® for a full rebate. A recall notification letter and response form will be sent out to all customers who have purchased within the distribution date range.
