NARAL Calls for Trump Campaign Manager to Step Aside, Assist With Police Investigation

Washington, DC–(ENEWSPF)–March 29, 2016. With police in Florida filing battery charges against Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Cory Lewandowski, NARAL Pro-Choice America called for Trump to place Lewandowski on leave and to cooperate with law enforcement. Along with the charges against Lewandowski, police in Jupiter, FL, released new video evidence clearly showing Trump’s campaign manager grabbing a female reporter and yanking her away from the candidate as she was attempting to ask a question. When a legal complaint was first filed in the case three weeks ago, NARAL called on the Trump campaign to cooperate with the investigation and fire Lewandowski if the allegations were true.

“Donald Trump needs to have a zero tolerance policy for abusive behavior of any kind,” said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. “How a candidate runs a campaign is a window into how they would run the country. Not only has Trump campaigned for policies that undermine women and our families, but he has treated women with a disdain and dismissiveness that is unmatched in modern American politics. We’ve already seen how this attitude has infected his increasingly violent rallies and now it seems to have found a safe harbor amongst his staff. The longer Donald Trump tolerates and encourages this outrageous behavior on his campaign, the more it becomes clear that he intends to bring this attitude with him to the Oval Office. Trump should immediately place his campaign manager on leave until the charges against him have been settled.“

NARAL Pro-Choice America and its network of state affiliates are dedicated to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom for all Americans. NARAL works to guarantee that every woman has the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. In recognition of its work defending our constitutional right to choose, Fortune Magazine described NARAL as “one of the top 10 advocacy groups in America.”
