NRDC: Congress Shouldn’t Try to Block Clean Power Plan’s Huge Health and Climate Benefits

WASHINGTON—(ENEWSPF)–October 27, 2015 – Members of Congress have introduced resolutions of disapproval under the Congressional Review Act this week, seeking to block the Clean Power Plan, the landmark initiative to cut the dangerous carbon pollution from power plants fueling climate change.

The following is a statement by David Doniger, director of the Climate and Clean Air Program at the Natural Resources Defense Council, on the CRA measures:

“Congressional Republicans have no plan to stop climate disruption. Instead they are wasting taxpayer money and protecting their big polluter allies by trying again to block the enormous health and safety protections that will be delivered by the Clean Power Plan, and keep our country from acting on climate change. Fortunately, this effort will be D.O.A at the White House and congressional Republicans won’t be able to override a presidential veto.”
