WASHINGTON–(ENEWSPF)–November 15, 2012. Planned Parenthood Federation of America President Cecile Richards released the following statement welcoming Representative Nancy Pelosi’s announcement that she will remain House Democratic leader:
“I am thrilled that Nancy Pelosi will continue as House minority leader. She is a tireless advocate for women’s health and economic security and a powerful leader in Congress. As the first female Speaker of the House, she was instrumental in the passage of the historic health care reform legislation, leading her female colleagues as they stood strong against attempts to insert the Stupak abortion ban into the bill. Against tremendous odds, she delivered the necessary votes to send the bill to President Obama’s desk. I know that she will continue to be a tremendous champion for women, and look forward to our continued work together to advance women’s access to health care.”
