Senate Approves Balanced Transportation Legislation

NRDC: Passage Proves Bipartisan Bills Still Possible

WASHINGTON–(ENEWSPF)–March 13, 2012 —  The following is a statement from Frances Beinecke, president of the Natural Resources Defense Council, on the Senate’s approval of  S.1813,  a transportation bill.

“The Senate has shown that it’s still possible for bipartisan legislation to move forward in this Congress that will actually help the American people, but it should not have had to waste hours defeating unrelated, anti-environmental proposals to get to this point.

“It’s now incumbent upon the House to follow suit — and adopt a balanced transportation bill that will maintain our roads and public transportation systems and reduce our oil use.”
