To the Editor: Enjoyed Clapton/Winwood Concert Review, Fireworks

To the Editor:

Thank you for the article about the Clapton/Winwood concert. It was the first time I had been to a concert where no one was introduced – they needed no introductions.

I have a hearing aid in one ear and can’t handle a lot of noise and flashing laser lights (their lighting was just fine) – so what was I doing there?

Well, I like Clapton a lot too – you certainly have been a loyal fan! and our 24 year-old son, Jacob, was here on vacation from Lawrence, KS. Jacob was brought up on all types of music and A LOT of the 1960’s and 70’s rock. He did enjoy the concert as much as we did!

My only regret is the instrumental parts were way too loud to hear the words being sung. Others said this too so it wasn’t just my hearing problem. I can get “sick” and off balance from loud noise, etc. and hadn’t tried a loud concert or for that matter a basketball game for over 15 years. I put a wad of kleenex in my good ear and turned off my hearing aid and did pretty good. I so enjoyed the instrumental and Buddy Guy – whom I hadn’t heard before. I could have listened to him for another two hours!

I hope his club continues and we can go hear him.

We moved here 5 yrs. ago from KS. and enjoy it here. Thanks again for your article.

To the Editor:

Just got home from watching the fireworks. They were fantastic.  There were so many different kinds, colors and sizes.  The ending was spectacular.  Everyone was pleased and I am grateful that Park Forest still does wonderful fireworks.
