90 Days, 90 Voices Calls for Stories in Response to Trump’s New Immigration Ban

Two weeks after launch, Chicago storytelling website amps up submissions

CHICAGO, Illinois –(ENEWSPF)—March 6, 2017.  In the wake of the new immigration ban President Trump signed this morning, 90 Days, 90 Voices is asking immigrants and refugees to share their stories on a newly-launched website.

After contacting us at [email protected] or through the site’s forms, a team of professional journalists, illustrators, and videographers will work with the immigrants and refugees to help them share their experiences.

“90 Days, 90 Voices tells the stories of those seeking a home in the United States during an age of unrest,” says Nissa Rhee, founder and editor. “With Trump’s new immigration ban signed this morning, hearing the voices of immigrants and refugees is more important than ever.”
Since it’s launch on February 21, 90 Days, 90 Voices has introduced readers to a Syrian tango dancer who builds log cabins in Wisconsin, taught them how to make a traditional Syrian pasta from an asylum seeker here, and shared an audio essay with them from a nine-year-old Rohingya refugee who fled genocide with her family, among others.

ABOUT:

90 Days, 90 Voices tells stories from the immigration ban and beyond. Through its unique blend of original reporting, illustrations, and photography, the website offers readers a glimpse into the hardships endured by the more than 65 million refugees worldwide as well as those working to help them.

90 Days, 90 Voices founders were spurred to create the website in response to the chaos of President Donald Trump executive order signed on January 27 which barred citizens of seven countries from coming to the United States for 90 days and all refugee admissions for 120 days. The storytellers aim to collect at least 90 stories from immigrants and those who work with them over the next few months. Since its launch, the storytelling website has been featured on WTTW’s Chicago Tonight, Chicago Public Radio’s Worldview, and Patch.com.
