SOUTH HOLLAND–(ENEWSPF)–October 14, 2016. More than 300 job-seekers attended a Hiring Event hosted by Congresswoman Robin Kelly at South Suburban College on Friday.
The 4th annual job fair featured more than 60 companies and agencies with active job openings, including Comcast, UPS, ComEd, Metra Rail, Illinois Tollway Authority, Ingalls Memorial Hospital, Lakeside Metals, the Cook County Sheriff’s Department, and more.
Prior to the Hiring Event, Rep. Kelly hosted two Job Search Boot Camps that coached job-seekers on “How to Find a Job in 30 Days or Less,” and “How to Win an Employer Over in 30 Seconds.”
“While the economy is improving, there are still many people out there looking for work or for better paying jobs to support themselves and their families. The trend we noticed this year was a higher number of mature workers looking for jobs — perhaps as a career change, for higher pay or post-retirement income. As always, my goal is to provide hard-working people in my district with the opportunity to connect to quality employers representing a wide variety of trades, services and professions. We have a very good track record of employers hiring job-seekers from my previous hiring events, so I’m confident that a good number of people who attended this year will be hired.”
