Park Forest Historical Society to Host the Suburban Church Program on Sunday, September 25

Gretchen Buggeln, author of “The Suburban Church: Modernism and Community in Postwar America”

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)—September 7, 2016.  The Park Forest Historical Society will hold its annual meeting and election of officers, Sunday, September 25 with author Gretchen Buggeln speaking on her book, “The Suburban Church:  Modernism and Community in Postwar America.” The brief meeting and program will be held in Park Forest Village Hall, 350 Victory Drive, at 2:30 p.m.

Gretchen Buggeln, is the Phyllis and Richard Duesenberg Chair in Christianity and the Arts at Valparaiso University.  Copies of her book, which includes 37 pages on Park Forest churches, will be sold and signed after the program.  The society’s meetings are free and open to the general public.

A drawing will be held for prizes including $5 coupons for Tower Cleaners, an oil change from Park Forest Auto Repair, a painting by Patricia Moore, and 2 tickets to an afternoon performance at Freedom Hall.
