The camp meets from 1:15 to 5:15 p.m., Monday through Thursday, on the college’s main campus at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights, and is intended to prepare high school varsity and novice speech team competitors for fall competition.

Week one will focus on interpretation, finding material, cutting material, discovering delivery advantages, public speaking, generating ideas and humor and citing sources. Week two will focus on practicing, polishing and performing. The camp will conclude with a performance showcase with awards. The camp fee is $275 per student.

“We have a terrific staff, made up of some of the best high school speech coaches that can be found in the far south suburbs,” said Ed Schwarz, professor and department chair and coordinator of the communication department. “These coaches have had great success with their own teams, and they will share their knowledge and expertise with studentswho join the camp,” he said.
