Premier Screening of Documentary ‘Making Waves: Battle for the Great Lakes’ on Wednesday, September 7 (Video)


CHICAGO—(ENEWSPF)—September 4, 2016.  A premier screening of the documentary film  ‘Making Waves: Battle for the Great Lakes’ will take place on Wednesday, September 7, at 7 p.m. at the Shedd Aquarium, 1200 South Lake Shore Drive in Chicago.  This free event is open to the public but reservations are required.

The film ‘Making Waves: Battle for the Great Lakes’ is about aquatic invasive species in the Great Lakes and the efforts underway to control and prevent them.  The screening will be followed by a Q & A with the filmmakers, narrator Bill Kurtis, and Shedd senior research biologist Dr. Philip Willink. Finally, attendees will have the opportunity to come face-to-face with some of the native and invasive species from the film in Shedd’s Great Lakes Gallery.

Guests are also welcome to enjoy ‘Jazzin’ at the Shedd’ before or after the screening. ‘Jazzin’ at the Shedd’ runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and features live music, access to most aquarium exhibits, and food and drinks available for purchase.

Note:  In addition to the free screening, the documentary will be airing on several PBS stations.  It will premiere on WTTW in Chicago as a two-part series, on September 11 & 18 at 5 p.m. each evening.  Following that, it will be airing on other PBS stations in Michigan, New York, Minnesota, Wisconsin and hopefully Ohio throughout the Fall and coming Spring.
