Magnitude 7.0 Earthquake Strikes Vanuatu; No Tsunami Warning

Vanuatu-(ENEWSPF)- The United States Geological Survey reports that a 7.0 magnitude earthquake has struck at a depth of 132.4 km (82.3 miles) near Vanuatu in the South Pacific.

The epicenter was at coordinates 20.585°S, 169.696°E, 125 km (78 miles) SSE (159°) from Isangel, Vanuatu; 215 km (134 miles) ENE (61°) from Tadine, Loyalty Islands, New Caledonia; 348 km (216 miles) SSE (155°) from PORT-VILA, Vanuatu; and 1859 km (1155 miles) ENE (69°) from Brisbane, Australia.

No tsunami warning, advisory or watch is in effect. The USGS says this event has been reviewed by a seismologist.
