Haiti and Chile Earthquakes

RWJF Will Provide $2,000,000 for Haiti Relief Efforts

Princeton, NJ–(ENEWSPF)–January 28, 2010.  The devastation following the earthquake in Haiti on January 12 has moved us all, and our hearts go out to the people of this country who have been so profoundly affected. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has made an immediate contribution of $500,000 to support the Salvation Army in its on-the-ground efforts to bring medical care, food, fresh drinking water and other much needed supplies to the affected region. We are also matching our staff’s contributions to the Red Cross relief effort. We recognize that the immediate situation is desperate and conditions are severe, but that there will also be long term needs as the country and its people begin to rebuild. We will continue to monitor the situation, and will provide an additional $1.5 million in support as those needs emerge.
