CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–October 8, 2013.  Mayor Rahm Emanuel met with Police Superintendent Garry F. McCarthy, First Deputy Alfonza Wysinger, Office of Emergency Management and Communications Executive Director Gary Schenkel and other members of the team responsible for planning the security for the 2013 Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

The team provided updates on security enhancements and new precautions for the marathon, which will feature 45,000 participants running through 29 neighborhoods in the 26.2-mile race on Sunday, October 13, 2013. The updates are extensions of Chicago Marathon policies and procedures that have been in place for several years for the event.
