New Actuarial Science Alumna Lands Job, Begins Graduate Studies at Roosevelt University

Carina Balan

CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–August 27, 2013.  New graduate student and Roosevelt alumna Carina Balan (BS, 13) believes in the power of numbers.

On the heels of receiving a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science from Roosevelt University in May, Balan has taken and passed her first two of 10 total actuarial science exams.

After graduating, Balan landed a job as an actuarial scientist managing risk at health insurance giant Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois.

And now, the award-wining Roosevelt Lakers tennis player also is an incoming graduate student in the University’s growing actuarial science program, which has doubled in size in five years and is the only one of its kind to offer the actuarial science major in the Chicago area.

“I always wanted to apply math to trends and concepts in understanding the real world, and Roosevelt University’s actuarial science program is definitely giving me the tools I need to be successful,” said Balan.

You can read about Balan’s success story, including why she chose actuarial science at Roosevelt and her trajectory as an up-and-coming professional in the lucrative field of actuarial science in a Q andA interview at:
