Easter at the House Museum

Easter has arrived at the 1950s Park Forest House Museum!  Easter baskets are out with jelly beans, candy eggs and chocolate bunnies.  The kids favorite Easter books are out.  The baby dolls are dressed in their Easter best.  The AARP Bulletin is in the mail and I have heard from one person in California who read the story on the museum.  I have not seen it yet.  He is actually another Nicoll who connected with me through my blog on eons.com.  I have a blog there and have joined a number of groups trying to get tourists from around the country interested in coming here.  I also hope to connect with former Park Foresters.  As I said in my earlier blog, we really need more volunteers to help with the museum.  I was docent last Saturday, then did a private tour Sunday, have been in the museum at least 6 hours packing decorations and redecorationg, and now, because of a schedule change, have docent duty again on Saturday.  When I am not at the museum, I am working on blogs, articles, research, arranging private tours, and looking for Park Forest or holiday things online.  Showing the museum is really a fun job.  You hear as many stories as you tell.  Visitors are very enthusiastic.  Please contact me if you would like to join our volunteer staff.  You can email me at parkforesthistory1 at yahoo.com.  You can come once a month, or once every few months.  There are jobs I could train people for in documenting our collection.  Please help the society tell the Park Forest story!
