Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The 2010 Diversity Dinners will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2010. The event, held at multiple homes, schools and other locations in Chicago’s south suburbs, brings people of different races, ethnicities, religions, lifestyles and ages together to share a meal, and have a conversation about various issues. These exchanges have led to a better understanding of our similarities and difference in our diverse society. Those wishing to participate by either hosting or attending a dinner should call Nancy Kolanowski at 708 283-4777 or e-mail her nkolonowski@villageof matteson.org or Barbara J. Moore at 708.747.6455 or e-mail her at [email protected].

“This event celebrates the region’s rich diversity and gives participants an opportunity to get to know one another,” said Vickie Sline of Matteson, who, with her husband, is a long time participant. “We are proud of the number of participants who have joined us year after year and we look forward to welcoming new faces.”

The evening begins at 7:00 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and “chit-chat” followed by a catered dinner at 7:30 p.m. and ends with conversation.

The Diversity Dinners, which were launched in 1998, are coordinated by a committee of representatives from the villages of Flossmoor, Homewood, Matteson and Park Forest, The Unity Coalition of the Southern Suburbs, Robin L. Kelly Foundation, Governors State University, Illinois State Treasurer’s Office, League of Women Voters of Homewood Flossmoor, League of Women Voters of Park Forest, The Center for Multicultural Communities, Martin Luther King Junior Celebration Committee, Rich Township High School District 227, and the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI).
