Washington, D.C.–(ENEWSPF)–September 14, 2012 – Yesterday, Rep. Jan Schakowsky released the following statement after voting against H.R. 6365, legislation to replace the sequester established by the Budget Control Act of 2011:
“Once again, Republicans are voting to ask the middle class, low-income families, and seniors to bear the burden of deficit reduction. What this bill says is that deficit reduction must be achieved entirely from domestic spending that allows us to educate our children, improve our health, and create jobs.
The bill states that not a single penny of deficit reduction can come from asking millionaires and billionaires to pay more or ending one subsidy for Big Oil or profitable corporations that ship jobs overseas. And once again, it will be Democrats that stand up to these harmful cuts and say, ‘No – it is time for the richest 2 percent to pay their fair share.”
