PSC Foundation Establishes Scholarship in Memory of Nursing Professor

Chicago Heights, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Gena Richardson, who served as an associate professor of nursing at Prairie State College (PSC), inspired countless students and was a dedicated educator during her seven year tenure at the college. Richardson passed away in February 2009 after a battle with cancer.

In her memory, the Prairie State College Foundation has established the Gena Richardson Memorial Nursing Scholarship. The scholarship will help continue Richardson’s work to educate future nurses.

“Gena Richardson was passionate about her profession, and she brought that enthusiasm into the classroom,” said Gwen Dean, dean of health professions and director of nursing. “She cared deeply for her students, and I know a nursing scholarship, in her name, is the appropriate tribute to honor her work as a nurse and as an educator of future nurses.”

Donations may be sent to the attention of the PSC Foundation at 202 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights, IL 60411, indicating the Gena Richardson Memorial. All donations will be acknowledged for tax purposes by the PSC Foundation, a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization. For more information, call Cathy Kloss, executive director of the foundation, at (708) 709-3636.
