Report: 2 Men Charged In ’08 Park Forest Murder

Cook County, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Southtown Star reports that two men have been charged in the shooting death of Jonathan Edwards, 24, of Hammond:

Revenge for a relative’s murder led to two Chicago Heights men facing first-degree murder charges in connection with a 2008 killing in Park Forest, prosecutors said.

Ouma Williams, 23, and Jamar Williams, 29, were charged last week in the shooting death of Jonathan Edwards, 24, of Hammond.

They mistakenly believed Edwards was involved in the murder of Joseph "JoJo" Williams Jr. a day earlier, Cook County state’s attorney’s office spokesman Andy Conklin said.

Joseph Williams was Ouma’s brother and Jamar’s nephew. Nobody has been charged in Williams’ murder.

Ouma Williams, 347 W. 16th St., was charged with first-degree murder and was ordered held on $380,000 bail, Conklin said.

Jamar Williams, 614 Andover St., was charged with first-degree murder and unauthorized use of a weapon by a felon. His bail was set at $450,000, prosecutors said. He has three previous drug convictions.
