Marian Forensics Qualifies Record 11 for Sectional


Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Only two points behind Shepard High School , the Marian Catholic Forensic Team finished second with a total of 52 points at the IHSA Sandburg Regional competition on Feb. 7.  Marian qualified a school record 11 out of 14 events for the Reavis Sectional on Feb. 14, with six event champions.

Winners representing Marian included Joe Wlos (Extemporaneous Speaking, Impromptu Speaking); Olivia Jackson (Dramatic Interpretation, Poetry Reading); Chris Skurka/Jon Williamsen (Humorous Duet Acting); and the cast of Performance in the Round. Second-place honors were awarded to Kiayla Jackson (Humorous Interpretation), Anna Ceragioli (Original Oratory) and Chris Skurka (Original Comedy). Also qualifying for Sectionals are Jon Williamsen and Zach Henry (third, Dramatic Duet Acting), and Chantal Freeman (fourth, Oratorical Declamation.)

The cast of Performance in the Round includes Molly Nunn, Adam King, Ashley Smith, Jaime Patriarca, Conor Keane, Greg Rossbach, Julie Zielinski, Michael Irwin and Mary Lou Herbias with direction by Mr. Tom Sweeney and Mr. Mark Donaway . The group is competing with a captivating story entitled “The Ice Wolf.”

The top four competitors in each event at Regionals advance to Sectionals, where the top three in each event qualify for State.
