Renewed NIH Centers Focus on Translation of Aging Research

Bethesda, Maryland–(ENEWSPF)–November 13, 2014.  Researchers receiving funding from the National Institute on Aging (NIA) will seek ways to improve cognition, decision making, mobility and independence of older people. The awards, announced yesterday, renew funds for 11 Edward R. Roybal Centers for Research on Applied Gerontology, and the designation of two new centers. The centers have been innovative models for moving promising social and behavioral research findings out of the laboratory and into programs and practices that can be applied every day to improve the health and well-being of older people. NIA is part of the National Institutes of Health.
