70-Year-Old Woman Accosted On Birch

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— A young man allegedly pushed and shoved a 70-year-old woman on Birch Street Friday while demanding money from her.

While the woman was returning from a friend’s home, a subject allegedly approached her and stated repeatedly, "You got any money?", "C’mon, where’s your purse?", while grabbing at her arm, pushing and shoving her in an abrupt manner, according to police.  She repeatedly told the subject that she did not have any money, and that she did not carry a purse.  While trying to distance herself by entering her vehicle, the subject persisted, reaching his arm inside the vehicle, again saying, "come on, where’s your purse?", according to police.

The victim told the subject that she didn’t carry a purse, and it was because of incidents like this that she didn’t carry one.  She then pushed the offender away, and he walked off with two other subjects.  The victim then went to the Area B office to use their phone to report the incident.

Police responded and discovered two subjects in court B-2, and another subject in court A-7.  These three subjects were transported to the scene for a show-up.  When the first subject stepped out of the vehicle, the victim said, “That’s him.  That’s the guy who accosted me.”

The subject, Markiel Q. Green, 17,  285 Allegheny, Park Forest, was arrested and charged with battery and disorderly conduct.
