Armed Thief on Westwood Gets Cell Phone

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— A man reported on November 19 that he was walking home after 10:00 p.m. from a business in Richton Park when he was robbed at gunpoint.  As he was walking eastbound from Temple Am Echad on the north sidewalk of Westwood and talking on his cell phone, he observed a male subject following approximately 50 feet behind him.  As he continued to walk, he observed that the same subject began running toward him.

The subject is described as a black male, dark complexion, thin build, between 5’9” and 5’11”, between 16 and 18 years of age.  He was wearing a black puffy jacket with a hood and black pants.  The hood had fur around it.

The subject approached the victim and placed an unknown object to the back of his head and said, “Give me your money, or I’ll blow your head off,” according to the report.  The subject told the victim to “get on the ground.”  The victim told the subject, “I don’t have anything.”  At this point, the victim’s cell phone began to ring.  The subject told the victim to give him the cell phone.  The victim complied.  The subject then began going through the victim’s pockets and removed a "speedy rewards card" and a Chapstick.  The subject dropped these two items on the ground, and began running southwest on Westwood.  The victim retrieved the two items, ran home and called police.

Police continue to investigate.
