Center On Halsted to Host Post Prop 8: Next Steps for the LGBT Movement Panel Discussion


Chicago, IL –(ENEWSPF)– Center on Halsted will host “Post-Prop 8: Next Steps for the LGBT Movement?” on Monday, June 22, 7:00 PM at the Center located at 3656 N. Halsted, The panel discussion with a “Q&A”, will focus on new directions for the LGBT movement following the recent defeat of civil unions in Illinois and marriage equality in California. Besides marriage equality, issues to be addressed include: How do we get President Obama to fulfill his promises to our community? How can we make Pride festivals more relevant? Should we have another March on Washington?

Panelists will include: Christopher Clark, (Senior Staff Attorney, Lambda Legal); Tania Unzueta, (Chicago Dyke March organizer and immigrant rights activist); Catina Lowery, (former Community Educator with Lambda Legal); Andy Thayer, (co-founder, Gay Liberation Network).   Following the discussion there will be a presentation on the recent Pride event held in Moscow, Russia with GLN’s Andy Thayer.
