Chief Fleming Installed as Police Chief Association President

Oak Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The South Suburban Association of Chiefs of Police (SSACOP) installed its new board of officers last Thursday evening at the association’s annual installation dinner and awards ceremony at Gaelic Park in Oak Forest . Outgoing association president Moraine Valley College Police Chief Patrick O’Connor formally turned over the presidency to Park Forest Police Chief Thomas Fleming .

In addition to Chief Fleming, New Lenox Police Chief Daniel Martin is the new vice-president, Riverdale Police Chief Greg Baker is the association’s treasurer, Matteson Police Chief Norm Burnson is the secretary, and Oak Lawn Police Chief Bill Villanova is the new sergeant-at-arms.

The Board of Officers was elected by association members at its September 25th general membership meeting. Cook County Judge Colleen Hyland administered the oath of officer to the new board officers.

Thomas Fleming has been Park Forest ’s Police Chief since July of 2004 and has been a member of the Park Forest Police Department since 1985. Chief Fleming holds a masters degree in Public Administration from Governors State University . He is a certified police chief as designated by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.

SSACOP is a regional police chiefs association with over 300 active, associate, and life members from local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies. SSACOP was formed nearly 40 years ago to advance the science and art of police administration and crime prevention, to develop and disseminate improved administrative and technical practices and to promote their use in police work, to foster police cooperation and the exchange of information and training in the police profession of qualified persons and to encourage adherence of all police officers to high professional standards of conduct.
