Chicago, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Clerk Karen A. Yarbrough, a special guest representing Cook County at Governor Pritzker’s first Budget Address to the General Assembly, issued the following statement:

“Even though a lot of attention is focused on how the state budget impasse affected state services, the damage also rippled downwards to county government, straining our own local safety nets and compounding the damage done to working families,” said Yarbrough. “I am encouraged after hearing the Governor commit to working in good faith to unwind the $3.2 billion deficit he inherited. After failures of leadership and collaboration at the state and federal level, people want and deserve a government that actually governs.  Pritzker’s focus on education, human services and public safety shows that he understands we must get to work now, without losing sight on both short-term and long-term priorities.”

According to a statement released Thursday by her office, after the speech, Clerk Yarbrough met with Governor Pritzker to discuss some of her legislative priorities and ideas to use technology to improve and secure government services.
