First Cook County Most Wanted Offender Caught

Chicago Heights, IL–(ENEWSPF)– A woman wanted for aggravated arson and featured on a new “Most Wanted” cable TV show became the first offender from that show to be captured, according to the Office of Sheriff Thomas J. Dart.

Cherilyn Isom, 33, was taken into custody on Monday, December 15 at an apartment in Chicago Heights by Sheriff’s Police Fugitive Warrants officers. Fugitive officers received a tip to the Department’s Fugitive Tip Phone line Monday morning shortly before 10 a.m. and Isom was arrested around 11:15 a.m. at 1505 S. Otto, Chicago Heights, without incident.

Isom has been wanted since June, 2006. She was charged two months earlier by Sheriff’s Police with aggravated arson in connection with an incident at a Ford Heights apartment she shared with a boyfriend at the time. Following a domestic dispute, Isom allegedly doused a tablecloth with lighter fluid and set it on fire while her boyfriend remained nearby. The apartment building had five other units, all of which had to be evacuated during the fire. The fire ultimately caused approximately $25,000 worth of damage to the building.

Isom will be held in Sheriff’s Police custody pending a bond hearing in 6th District Circuit Court in Markham.

“Police Blotter On Demand” has been airing on Comcast Digital Cable since November 2008. Providing profiles of some of the county’s most wanted fugitives, the profiles are also available on the Sheriff’s web site most wanted page.
