SEIU Members Reach Nearly 440,000 Americans in the First Six Weeks of Outreach on Affordable Care Act

WASHINGTON–(ENEWSPF)–November 7, 2013.  With the release of official enrollment figures for the federal marketplaces one week out, SEIU International President Mary Kay Henry today shared more details on the work by doctors, nurses, childcare providers and education workers to inform their communities about the law:

“SEIU’s doctors and nurses, librarians and homecare workers are having conversations with tens of thousands of people each week – Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike – on their front stoops, over the phone, or at community events or health fairs. While extremist Republicans double down on their political attacks, plenty of hard-working, uninsured Americans are crossing the finish line to enroll in coverage through state or federal marketplaces or Medicaid.

“Despite the fact that their constituents are signing up for affordable, quality healthcare coverage, far-right politicians still want to delay the law. That’s simply code for denying Americans the healthcare they are counting on come January 1.

“It’s past time for these members of Congress to focus on providing the facts that will help working families seize this unprecedented opportunity for better health and peace of mind.”
